美国匹兹堡大学2023年招聘博士后职位(药理学和化学生物学)
Postdoctoral Associate -Pharmacology & Chemical Biology(#117)
University of Pittsburgh
Job Description
A postdoctoral positions is available in the Schopfer lab to study the regulation of lipid and carbohydrate hepatic metabolism using novel techniques at the forefront of biochemistry and physiology. We seek a highly enthusiastic and driven postdoctoral fellow to combine biochemistry, metabolic studies, imaging, and animal models to help understand the mechanism involved in hepatic metabolic responses to different lipid loads. The successful postdoc will join a laboratory that made seminal findings in signaling lipids and is recognized by its analytical determinations and mass spectrometric findings in areas of lipid biology. The highly collegial environment at the Dept of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology and School of Medicine invites to collaborations and provides a unique growth and learning opportunity for highly engaged and motivated post-doctoral fellows. The Schopfer laboratory is a translation-focused research lab at the Dept of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology, University of Pittsburgh. The long-term goal of this lab is to apply multiple disciplinary approaches inclusive of organic chemistry, mass spectrometry, biochemistry, metabolic studies and animal models to identify metabolic targets and predictive biomarkers, as well as developing pharmacological approaches to treat inflammatory and metabolic diseases. The laboratory is currently well funded and has been highly successful in obtaining funding at different levels.
Qualifications or Expectations:
· Relevant knowledge and skills include knowledge in molecular biology, NAFLD/NASH animal models, biochemical regulation of metabolism, PCR, western blots, and imaging.
· The candidate will be a highly driven and ambitious scientist able adapt and work in a multidisciplinary environment.
· We seek a qualified applicant with a PhD or MD/PhD degree in a biomedical field with 0-3 years of post-doctoral experience, preferably in the field of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism.
Opportunities Available:
· Participation in career development opportunities and programs on campus.
· Publication of findings in peer-reviewed journals.
· Relevant career awards will be identified and advising provided for competitive applications, including pathway to independence awards (e.g. K01, K02, K99) as well as grant opportunities from foundations.
· The selected candidate will benefit from the unique working and training environment of the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology and the Pittsburgh Liver Research Center.
Duties or Responsibilities:
· Analyze and interpret data
· Prepare abstracts for conferences, manuscripts, and reports
· The applicant will be able to guide and conduct the project, with input provided during discussions and meetings.
· The candidate is expected to work independently with a significant degree of independence.
