Responsibilities
The Rankin Lab is seeking a Post-doctoral Fellow to study chromosome assembly and dynamics, how these events are controlled, and how corruption of these processes contributes to disease. Our lab forms part of the Program in Cell Cycle and Cancer Biology, which offers an excellent training environment in a state-of-the-art facility. We use a variety of experimental models, including cultured cells, biochemistry, extracts from frog eggs, and advanced microscopy to address problems of chromosome structure, replication, and inheritance. Experience directly related to this field is not necessary, but basic molecular biology skills are preferred. Applicants should demonstrate enthusiasm for the topic, willingness to learn, and the ability to work independently to develop their project(s), analyze experiments, and prepare manuscripts. Successful candidates will have good written and verbal communication skills and be willing to engage fully in lab and departmental activities. During their tenure in the Rankin lab, fellows will receive significant career development support. They can also expect to attend training courses as well as scientific conferences, where they can present their work and establish their presence in the research community.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in a biological science, chemistry, physics or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent.
