Postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Priti Kumar at Yale University's School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Infectious Diseases. The laboratory is dedicated to developing innovative therapeutic strategies aimed at curing HIV infection. The research program will focus on recent findings that highlight the potential of using cutting-edge in vivo gene-and immunotherapeutic approaches to target virus-infected cells, achieving long-term viral control without the need for antiretroviral therapy.

We are looking for highly talented, creative, and independent-minded post-doc candidates to fit into any one of the major endeavors of the lab:
-Developing targeted in vivo delivery systems for cutting edge gene editors as gene therapy for HIV
-Investigating immunotherapeutics for the cure of HIV
Both programs include preclinical evaluation in state-of-the-art humanized mouse models, which enable studies in the context of a human immune system. The experimental approaches will span molecular biology, immunology, and virology.
The expertise/experiences required for this position include:
Expertise in basic virology/molecular/cell biology/immunology techniques such as animal cell culture, virus production, neutralization, lentiviral vector production molecular cloning, Western blot, flow cytometry, ELISA, protein expression and purification, knowledge of CRISPR technology, microscopy, human immune cell assays, etc.); Prior experience in working with animal model systems is highly desirable. Experience in generating humanized mouse models is a strong positive, but not a requirement. Relevant training is available upon hire. Previous experience working in BSL-2+ laboratories with viruses, particularly HIV, is a plus; Basic statistical knowledge is highly desirable; Excellent oral communication and written skills in English, with good organizational and analytical abilities.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences such as immunology, virology, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, and other related fields. The salary will be according to NIH guidelines, and commensurate with experience.
