Job Description
The Max Planck Institute for Chemistry is one of the two institutes of the Max Planck Society with the longest tradition. Founded in 1912, the institute currently employs around 300 people and, as an internationally recognized research institute, conducts basic research in the fields of chemistry, physics, biology, and geosciences.
As part of an ERC Synergy Grant for the digitization of odors (D2Smell), we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in the Atmospheric Chemistry Department at the earliest possible date.
Postdoctoral researcher (m/f/div)
Full time; the position is initially limited to 3 years with the possibility of extension.
The successful candidate will join the research group of Prof. Jonathan Williams, which is specialized in the measurement of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the atmosphere. The project involves close collaboration with groups from Sweden and Israel and includes the construction of novel instruments, field work, and the measurement of VOCs in air.
Your profile:
- successfully completed studies and PhD in the field of natural sciences
- experience in mass spectrometry (GC-TOF-MS and/or PTR-TOF-MS)
- willingness to work in an international team
- scientific curiosity and a strong interest in the sense of smell
