Post-doctoral fellow-bioinformatics or data science or genomics
Employer
Loma Lina University Center for Genomics
Location
Loma Linda University, Loma Linda
Salary
Competitive ($71k/year plus benefit package).
Closing date

A postdoctoral fellow position in bioinformatics or genomics is available at the Loma Linda University Center for Genomics. Our research projects are focused on investigating the genomic and epigenomic mechanisms underlying abnormal brain development following prenatal e-cigarette or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol exposure (https://medicine.llu.edu/research/laboratories-llu-school-medicine/charles-wang-lab). We aim to understand how brain development and neuron type specifications controlled epigenetically via methylation and chromatin modifications, and how dysregulation of these epigenetic events contributes to neurodevelopmental disorders. The center is well-equipped with different NGS genomics tools and cutting-edge bioinformatics infrastructure including single-cell transcriptomics and single-cell ATAC-seq, spatial genomics, methylation, combining other approaches such as microelectrode array, FACS sorting, histology, behavior, and computation. The position is supported by a NIH U01 grant. The candidate will receive training in many aspects of bioinformatics and will be involved in multiple collaborative projects, and perform bioinformatics data analyses involving genomics, epigenomics, spatial transcriptomics, and single-cell sequencing multi-omics data. The candidate is expected to apply various algorithms involving R package/language, Bioconductor, Python, and other bioinformatics tools to the projects. The PI’s lab has published many high-profile papers in high impact journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Nature Communications, Genome Biology etc. The successful candidate will benefit from an outstanding research environment in our center and opportunities for career development into an independent investigator in academia.
Requirements: A doctoral degree in relevant fields such as computational biology, bioinformatics, data science or genomics, is required. Highly self-motivated. The candidate must be a team player. Having demonstrated knowledge and experience with data analyses on one type of genomics data such as spatial transcriptomics, RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, DNA-seq, ATAC-seq, or DNA methylation and expertise on machine learning will be a plus.
Salary: Competitive (up to >$71k/year) plus benefits.
Application: Please submit by e-mail a cover letter, names and contacts of referees and curriculum vitae to Dr. Charles Wang at chwang@llu.edu.
